about

MISGUIDED PANTHEON is a ROUGH AND NASTY demo song in preparation for the next album that I am working on, THE HEATHEN AT THE ALTAR. It's a concept album about an extremely pious ancient culture and a man who begins questioning the validity of the gods.

lyrics

As far back as I can think

Yes - this is my reality

A pile of stones adorned in gold

with images of a pantheon.

No one ruler,

the gods make a whole.

And we are the pieces of them on earth.

Representations of fragments

of that whole.

Our identity

infused with a god.

I believed it. All my life.

Yes - what more empowering way to live?

What better justification for existence?

Then my faith

diminished

when i thought

this subtracts from me.

This subtracts from me.

What point is there?

If the gods have no point?

How do we know

the gods know all?

How do we know

that life and the world

sprang forth by devine command

when some command would have to facilate divinity.

If existence does exist, then why must the form of an unmoved mover exist first?

Why can’t another process

Exist as well?

Existence

speaks for itself.

So why must rationality be the only form of existence that is here prior to everything?

These thoughts, again and again.

add to me and subtract from me

Subtract - in that it is suffering

Death will come if I vent

Subtract - in that I must kneel at the altar every day.

Knowing that these constructs subtract from my mind.

Add to me - let me escape.
